The Wolverine might see Hugh Jackman’s titular mutant squaring off against new enemies and forging new alliances, but despite being billed as a standalone affair, it looks like the film may have some ties to the existing X-Men films, after all. AICN picked up a report from We Got This Covered that claims Famke Janssen, who played Jean Grey in the X-Men trilogy, has flown to Australia to film a cameo alongside her former costar.
This is an interesting development, especially when it comes hot on the heels of the news that Patrick Stewart will reprise his role as Charles Xavier in X-Men: Days of Future Past. That film is expected to include time travel elements, and has been described by Mark Millar as “X-Men meets The Terminator.” Could we see the beginnings of an alternate universe here?
