The wait is over! After the first official images of Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four reboot were released yesterday, 20th Century Fox has now unveiled the first trailer for the film. Check out the Fantastic Four trailer below.
The trailer dropped on Fox’s YouTube page earlier this morning.
This looks about as far removed as the previous Fantastic Four films as it could possibly be. The aesthetics and tone also make the film seem like it could plausibly exist in the same universe as X-Men: Days of Future Past– a connection which the trailer goes out of its way to point out.
I really loved the somber tone of this trailer, and the little glimpses of the team’s abilities. The costumes are interesting, and serve as a somewhat welcome departure from the typical stuff we see in superhero films. In fact, this seems like it will be more of a science fiction adventure, and less of the whiz-bang action we’ve come to expect from the genre. Either way, this is an excellent teaser, and should definitely get people talking about the film.
And speaking of talking about the film, here’s a version of the trailer featuring commentary from director Josh Trank and screenwriter Simon Kinberg.
Nice to get a little more insight into what they’re trying to accomplish here. I wouldn’t say that I’m completely sold yet, but I’m certainly a lot more optimistic than I was before.
Starring Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell and Toby Kebbell, Fantastic Four will hit theaters on August 7.
FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.
