Rumor: Marvel Considering 'Boardwalk Empire' Star Jack Huston for 'Doctor Strange'

As Marvel continues to develop a Doctor Strange film with Sinister director Scott Derrickson at the helm, plenty of names have been tossed around for the leading role, including Jared Leto, Tom Hardy, and Johnny Depp. Now, a new report from This is Infamous is offering up another name: Jack Huston, best known for his portrayal of Richard Harrow on HBO’s acclaimed series Boardwalk Empire.

Huston is an interesting choice – he doesn’t have the same level of name recognition as some of the other names that have been rumored for the role, but that also means he’s less likely to have a busy schedule, or a hefty price tag. With the notable exception of Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark, Marvel has a pretty consistent track record of casting up-and-coming young talent in major roles for their films, and Huston would certainly fit that same mold.

As usual, neither Marvel nor Huston’s reps have made any official statement, so we’ll consider this nothing more than a rumor for now – but we’ll also be crossing our fingers, because this sounds like a great piece of casting.
