T.J. Miller Confirms Weasel Role in Deadpool

Shooting on the long-awaited Deadpool film is officially underway, with Ryan Reynolds in the leading role, and a supporting cast that includes Ed Skrein, Gina Carano, and Morena Baccarin. And now, we can add one more name to that list: Silicon Valley‘s T.J. Miller has confirmed that he will play Weasel in the film.

While Miller has been attached to the project for some time, 20th Century Fox has been keeping a tight lid on what character he would be portraying. Apparently, Miller got tired of waiting for the studio to spill the beans, electing to break the news himself.

The official word on Miler’s role comes from his Twitter account:

In the comics, Weasel has been a longtime friend and sidekick of Wade Wilson (aka Deadpool), often providing him with weapons and gear for his missions. Expect him to fulfill a similar role in the feature film version.

But Miller isn’t the only one communicating from the Vancouver set – Ryan Reynolds also sent out a Tweet that appears to give us our first look at the film’s logo. Check it out below:

Visual effects wizard Tim Miller is directing Deadpool, with a script from Zombieland scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. It’s unknown if the shooting script will share any similarities with the early draft that leaked online some time ago, but with that copy being somewhat widely circulated, here’s hoping there are some changes in store for the finished version.

Deadpool is scheduled to hit theaters on February 12, 2016.
