Croteam and 2×2 Games have announced a beta patch for Unity of Command 2, introducing a new standalone scenario focused on the Battle of the Bulge from the Axis perspective. The update, titled “Wacht am Rhein!”, allows players to take command of German forces in a scenario specifically crafted for this playstyle. While modders have created similar scenarios for the German army, this marks the first official inclusion of such content, hinting at a possible future campaign centered on the Western Front.
Players interested in trying out this new scenario can download the beta patch through Steam. Simply navigate to Game Properties, click on the Betas tab, and select the beta branch from the drop-down menu.
The anticipation for additional content in Unity of Command 2 is palpable, especially considering my previous review where I rated it 91%. Despite some strategic management challenges, the campaign’s dynamic nature provided a refreshing experience that rekindled my interest in wargames. I described it as “an excellent wargame for both newcomers and seasoned strategy enthusiasts,” noting its accessible yet challenging gameplay.
This beta update also brings several important bug fixes, new features, user interface enhancements, and campaign balance adjustments. For a complete list of the updates, you can check the game’s Steam page.
