It was only a matter of time, but THR broke the exclusive news that writer-director Shane Black (Iron Man 3, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) will bring Predator, the fearsome big game hunter alien, back to life via reboot for 20th Century Fox.
Black will do a story treatment and then hand off scripting duties to Fred Dekker, with whom he also wrote the 1987 cult favorite Monster Squad. Black will also direct the film, which was given no release date and is obviously in the early stages of coming together.
I wasn’t a big fan of Black’s work on Iron Man 3, but Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a brilliant film and his earlier work on 80’s hits like Lethal Weapon certainly make him a person in touch with the era that produced Predator.
