It was only a matter of time, and although this isn’t officially confirmed, it seems we now have our first look at Stormtroopers in Star Wars: Episode VII.
MakingStarWars.net and IndieRevolver got their hands on multiple photos of a couple different versions of Stormtroopers that will allegedly be seen in the J.J. Abrams film. We’ve heard that the production designs were going to rely heavily on Ralph McQuarrie’s gorgeous concept art for the original Star Wars film and these photos clearly confirm that. Take a look below:
Obviously, the one in the middle is a different variation of the standard Stormtrooper and almost looks like an updated Snowtrooper uniform – although the location in the photo looks more desert than ice planet. Overall, I have to say they look fantastic. They’re still recognizable as the iconic imperial soldiers, but look fresh and new enough to feel like a sleek natural progression.
It was neat seeing the updated X-Wing and the practical effect puppets in the J.J. Abrams videos, but this finally makes it real in my mind that there are new Star Wars films featuring the original characters on the way and my-inner child is ecstatic.
Star Wars: Episode VII will be released on December 18, 2015.
