COMIC-CON 2014: 'Rebels' Panel, But No 'Star Wars: Episode VII'

If you were counting on big Star Wars: Episode VII news from Comic-Con 2014 and maybe even some footage, you’ll have to settle for the Star Wars: Rebels animated series. Deadline reports that their sources confirm the lack of Star Wars: Episode VII at this years event, but do not cite a particular reason. One would have to guess the rigorous shooting schedule they have to adhere to in order to finish on time and the unexpected injury to Harrison Ford have made schedules tight.

Additionally, I have to believe that even though the film didn’t make an appearance at the last “D23” event, Lucasfilm/Disney are going to hold the big reveals for their next ‘D23’ since it is their own huge promotional Con event.

In the meantime, Star Wars: Rebels is an exciting project that will be the first look at the post-George Lucas continuity. It takes place in between the prequel and original trilogies and tells the story of a Firefly-esque group of space outcasts swept up into the early days of the Rebellion. Yeah, I’m sold too. Here’s the panel info:
