A few months ago, Sony announced release dates for two more films in the Amazing Spider-Man franchise – a surprising move when you consider the fact that the second film is still a year away from its release. Now comes the next bit of news regarding the future installments: The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the writing team of Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner will return for the third film.
Without having seen the second installment, it’s hard to say whether or not this is a good idea, but there’s always a certain advantage to keeping the same writers attached to a franchise. Rumors indicate that events in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will lead to the formation of the Sinister Six in future films, so it makes sense to bring back the same writers if a long-term story arc is being explored.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2, starring Andrew Garfield, Jamie Foxx and Emma Stone, will hit theaters on May 2, 2014.
