'22 Jump Street' red-band trailer: it's just drinking games and bonding.

21 Jump Street (see our review here) was a rare example of a recognizable franchise being successfully updated for a modern audience. The film was incredibly funny, and gave me a whole new appreciation for the comedic talents of Channing Tatum as he worked alongside Jonah Hill in a goofy send-up of the original television series.

With the film’s success, it should come as no surprise that a sequel is coming our way, and today we’re getting our first look at 22 Jump Street via this red-band trailer.

Honestly, I’m underwhelmed by this clip. Everything feels forced, and I don’t see any signs of the chemistry between Tatum and Hill that made their first outing so enjoyable. But to be fair, the first film took me by surprise, so we’ll see what happens when 22 Jump Street opens on June 13, 2014.

After making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt and Jenko when they go deep undercover at a local college.
