The cast of X-Men: Apocalypse continues to grow, as director Bryan Singer has announced the latest addition to the ever-growing roster. Olivia Munn (Magic Mike, The Newsroom) has been cast as Betsy Braddock, better known as the mutant Psylocke.
Like most of the recent casting announcements, the news was first revealed on Singer’s Instagram account.
Munn’s star has been on the rise over the past couple of years, with a supporting role in 2012’s Magic Mike and a regular gig on HBO’s The Newsroom. And as the former host of G4TV’s Attack of the Show, Munn certainly has the requisite geek cred to pull off a role as a comic book character. Here’s hoping that the version of Psylocke we get in this film will bear little to no resemblance to the version from X-Men: The Last Stand.
Munn joins an enormous cast that includes returning stars James McAvoy (Professor Xavier), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Rose Byrne (Moira McTaggart), and Evan Peters (Quicksilver), as well as newcomers Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler), Lana Condor (Jubilee) and Oscar Isaac (Apocalypse).
X-Men: Apocalypse will open on May 27, 2016.
