A major villain in the comic universe has found his way into the MCU for Netflix’s upcoming Daredevil series. Respected character actor Vincent D’Onofrio will play Wilson Fisk, aka The Kingpin, to torment Charlie Cox’s blind lawyer superhero from Hell’s Kitchen.
D’Onofrio is an excellent actor and can be quite the chameleon, but has spent most of his time recently on Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Wilson Fisk/The Kingpin is the hulking, bald businessman/crime-boss that has menaced many superheroes in Marvel’s New York City, including Spider-man, but his most famous rivalry is with his arch-nemesis “The Man Without Fear,” Daredevil. Kingpin is probably best known for being portrayed by the late Michael Clarke Duncan in Ben Affleck’s Daredevil film.
Here’s what Marvel had to say about this incarnation of The Kingpin:
“We’re incredibly proud to have an actor with the gravitas and versatility of Vincent joining ‘Marvel’s Daredevil’ in such an integral role,” said Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television. “Wilson Fisk is an iconic villain whose cunning and power make him the dangerous equal of our hero.”
