Wow, Comic-Con 2014 has come early with EW’s big scoop of the first official look at Ultron from Avengers: Age of Ultron. The big robot baddie of The Avengers sequel (played by James Spader) takes a backseat to stars Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Captain America (Chris Evans) in the image, but the image itself certainly reveals a lot including an army of Ultron’s robot minions.
So what are you waiting for? Assemble and feast your eyes on the first official look at Avengers: Age of Ultron:
I’m relieved to see that the final design does not match the practical suit that was used on set as reference for the actors. This look is very much in-line with how the cold, homicidal robot of the Marvel comics should look, so fans should be pleased.
The article has a ton of new bits about the filming direct from the cast and Joss Whedon himself. Here’s the man himself being very Whedon-esque when discussing Ultron’s decision that humans are Earth’s main problem:
“Ultron sees the big picture and he goes, ‘Okay, we need radical change, which will be violent and appalling, in order to make everything better’; he’s not just going ‘Muhaha, soon I’ll rule!’” Whedon says, rubbing his hands together. “He’s on a mission,” the filmmaker adds, and smiles thinly. “He wants to save us.”
