Trainwreck Trailer: Monogamy Isn't Realistic

Amy Schumer has carved out a nice little niche for herself on television, but hasn’t quite made the transition to the big screen. Expect that to change this summer with the release of Trainwreck, a film from comedy giant Judd Apatow that Schumer wrote and stars in. The first trailer for Trainwreck was revealed moments ago, and you can check it out below.

Universal debuted the Trainwreck trailer via the film’s official Twitter feed.

Schumer’s character doesn’t seem terribly far removed from her standup personality – which makes sense, as the film is supposed to be inspired by some of her own experiences. She and Bill Hader certainly make for an interesting pair, and they’re surrounding by some great supporting players, including Brie Larson and Tilda Swinton. I also loved the appearances by LeBron James and John Cena, the latter of whom is rumored to steal the show with a performance that’s the polar opposite of his pro wrestling persona.

Update: Here’s the red-band trailer, which features some alternate NSFW footage and language.

The rest of Trainwreck’s impressive supporting cast includes Colin Quinn, Barkhad Abdi, Mike Birbiglia, Jon Glaser, Vanessa Bayer, Ezra Miller, Method Man, Norman Lloyd, Jim Norton, Daniel Radcliffe and Marisa Tomei.

A rough cut of Trainwreck will be screening as part of the 2015 SXSW Film Festival. The film opens in theaters everywhere on July 17.

Since she was a little girl, it’s been drilled into Amy’s (Schumer) head by her rascal of a dad (Colin Quinn) that monogamy isn’t realistic. Now a magazine writer, Amy lives by that credo—enjoying what she feels is an uninhibited life free from stifling, boring romantic commitment—but in actuality, she’s kind of in a rut. When she finds herself starting to fall for the subject of the new article she’s writing, a charming and successful sports doctor named Aaron Conners (Bill Hader), Amy starts to wonder if other grown-ups, including this guy who really seems to like her, might be on to something.
