Earlier today, Kyle told you that Tom Cavanagh had joined the cast of The Flash, which currently has a pilot commitment at The CW. A late-breaking update from The Hollywood Reporter says that John Wesley Shipp, who portrayed Barry Allen in the CBS live-action Flash series from the 1990s, has also been cast in the project as “a mysterious character.”
The report says that details about Shipp’s role in the pilot are being kept under wraps, but if the show goes to series as expected, he would become a recurring character. He joins the recently announced Cavanagh, as well as Grant Gustin in the title role of Barry Allen/The Flash. Arrow‘s Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, and director David Nutter are executive producing the Flash pilot, with Geoff Johns writing the episode and Nutter directing.
