Later this month, Denzel Washington will reunite with Training Day director Antoine Fuqua for The Equalizer, a reimagining of the 1980s television series about a man with a mysterious past who helps those in need. In this case, it’s a young prostitute (Chloe Grace Moretz) who finds herself entangled with a group of Russian gangsters who may have grossly underestimated the skills of her protector. Check out the new trailer for The Equalizer, courtesy of Eminem’s YouTube page.
I actually saw The Equalizer last week, and while I can’t really go into detail just yet, I can say that this trailer merely hints at the onscreen carnage that unspools over the course of the film’s 2-hour running time. If you like what you see here, then you have plenty to look forward to when The Equalizer opens on September 26.
In The Equalizer, Denzel Washington plays McCall, a man who believes he has put his mysterious past behind him and dedicated himself to beginning a new, quiet life. But when McCall meets Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz), a young girl under the control of ultra-violent Russian gangsters, he can’t stand idly by — he has to help her. Armed with hidden skills that allow him to serve vengeance against anyone who would brutalize the helpless, McCall comes out of his self-imposed retirement and finds his desire for justice reawakened. If someone has a problem, if the odds are stacked against them, if they have nowhere else to turn, McCall will help. He is The Equalizer.
