The first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trailer wasn’t met with much enthusiasm, mostly thanks to the bizarre design choices on the faces of the popular cartoon heroes. But with less than two months until the Michael Bay-produced film opens, the studio is trying to spark interest from fans by hosting an interactive contest to reveal four new character posters, each featuring a different turtle.
Yesterday, TurtleReveal.com allowed users to vote for their favorite green hero via Twitter, with the posters being unveiled after a certain number of character-centric votes had accumulated. You can check those out at the bottom of this post, and now that all four posters have been unlocked, the new trailer for the film has been released.
This trailer is a huge improvement over the first, and the action looks pretty spectacular. I still don’t care for the faces of the turtles, and the Shredder armor looks like it would be more at home in Transformers, but I’m much more intrigued now than I was after seeing the first footage.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is scheduled to open on August 8.
The city needs heroes. Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April and her wise-cracking cameraman Vern Fenwick to save the city and unravel Shredder’s diabolical plan.
