Back in January, we got our first look at Ted 2, the sequel to Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane’s smash comedy hit about a man (Mark Wahlberg) and his best friend – a foul-mouthed teddy bear (MacFarlane). The “thunder buddies for life” are back this summer, and we’ve got a brand-new, very NSFW trailer you can check out.
Universal debuted the Ted 2 red-band trailer on their YouTube channel:
My thoughts on this trailer are pretty much identical to my opinion of the previous clip: some of it’s funny, some of it isn’t. I’d even go so far as to say this is a better trailer, and a better representation of what we can expect from the finished product, but I’m still not sure that another dose of Ted is really necessary.
Hopefully MacFarlane can imbue Ted 2 with the correct balance of humor, heart and filth to knock this one out of the park. We’ll find out when it hits hits theaters this summer on June 26.
Seth MacFarlane returns as writer, director and voice star of Ted 2, Universal and Media Rights Capital’s follow-up to the highest-grossing original R-rated comedy of all time. Joined once again by star Mark Wahlberg and fellow Ted writers Alec Sulkin & Wellesley Wild, MacFarlane produces the live action/CG-animated comedy alongside Bluegrass Films’ Scott Stuber, as well as John Jacobs and Jason Clark.
