A full brutal year and eight months have passed since fans got their last glimpse of Sherlock taking an unfortunate plunge in the Season Two finale, The Reichenbach Fall. It’s a different world we live in now with Benedict Cumberbatch (Star Trek) and Martin Freeman (The Hobbit) both being in-demand movies stars, making production very difficult to schedule for Season Three.
But word finally got out today (along with the first official pic above) that the third season of Sherlock season 3 will finally grace US television screens and give much needed closure for that insane cliffhanger beginning January 19th, 2014 at 10p ET on PBS Masterpiece.
As with previous seasons, the UK will get to see the episodes at some point before they air in the US, but the BBC has yet to reveal their air date. Fans will still need to beware of spoilers on the internet prior to the PBS broadcast, but the window to wait won’t be as long as previous ones.
