It’s been quite awhile since we’ve heard anything about Seventh Son, the fantasy action film inspired by The Last Apprentice series of books by Joseph Delaney. A trailer for the film debuted right around Comic-Con 2013, with the film slated to drop in January of this year. That obviously didn’t happen, thanks to the complicated parting of ways between Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros., and the title had pretty much fallen off the radar until today.
Jeff Bridges stars as the last remaining member of an ancient sect of warriors, tasked with scouring the land in search of a legendary hero (Ben Barnes) born with extraordinary powers, who is destined to combat a powerful witch (Julianne Moore). Check out the brand new trailer for Seventh Son below.
This trailer certainly looks better than the footage we saw last year, but I’m still not completely sold on the film. Maybe Legendary Pictures is worried that others might feel the same way, as during the trailer they went out of their way to point out other action epics they’ve produced recently, likely hoping the name recognition of Godzilla might draw in some additional interest.
Directed by Sergei Bodrov, Seventh Son will hit theaters on February 6, 2015… hopefully.
In a time of enchantments when legends and magic collide, the sole remaining warrior of a mystical order (Oscar® winner Jeff Bridges) travels to find a prophesized hero born with incredible powers, the last Seventh Son (Ben Barnes). Torn from his quiet life as a farmhand, the unlikely young hero embarks on a daring adventure with his battle-hardened mentor to vanquish a dark queen (Julianne Moore) and the army of supernatural assassins she has dispatched against their kingdom.
