Warning: Potential Spoilers for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
Update – El Mayimbe tweeted out this bit of his speculation on the film that Stahleski and Leitch are circling to direct and he seems to think it is Aquaman and not Batman related as I previously speculated:

A big part of Batman’s backstory in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice may be coming into focus with the latest round of rumors. Latino Review is always full of scoops and speculation, and now claim that Jason Todd’s Robin outfit will be on display in the Batcave in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and that the character’s death is a main factor in the estrangement between Harley Quinn and The Joker.
But the Robin suit isn’t just meant as an Easter egg for a fallen Robin in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, because DC apparently has made the character of Red Hood a priority in their new lineup. Comic fans know that a resurrected Jason Todd masked around as the violent vigilante Red Hood before revealing his true identity to Batman.
The site also mentions that the directors of John Wick, Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, are being sought for a DC Cinematic Universe film. El Mayimbe doesn’t go as far as to connect these stories, but you can definitely read the subtext in pairing the two bits of news. The directors could be circling a completely different project, but a Red Hood film or even a Batman v Red Hood film seems like a great fit for the two men.
Personally, I love that they seem to be starting Batman out at an old age, but will fill in the key points of his back story in other films. A live-action Red Hood film similar to the animated Batman: Under the Red Hood that could tell the story of Jason’s death, but also provide a kick ass Batman film, seems like a brilliant idea for the Bat-franchise to take with a solo film. Fingers crossed this one is more than a rumor when Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters in 2016.
