We got our first look at the Brian Wilson biopic Love & Mercy back in February, when the first teaser trailer for the film was released. Covering two distinct periods in the life of the Beach Boys songwriter, the film follows Wilson during his most creative years, where he is portrayed by Paul Dano, and during a much darker period in the 1980s, where John Cusack steps into the role.
With less than two months until the film’s theatrical release, Roadside Attractions has now debuted the full-length Love & Mercy trailer. Check it out below.
I was fortunate enough to see Love & Mercy at the SXSW Film Festival last month, and it was easily the best film I saw during my trip. Director Bill Pohlad offers a completely unique and original approach to a genre that has gotten increasingly stale and formulaic, and the film is a breathtakingly emotional experience that will give audiences a newfound love and appreciation for Wilson’s musical accomplishments – as well as his personal journey.
With a stellar supporting cast that includes Elizabeth Banks and Paul Giamatti, Love & Mercy will open in theaters on June 5. Fore more information, check out our coverage of the Love & Mercy press conference from SXSW.
LOVE & MERCY presents an unconventional portrait of Brian Wilson, the mercurial singer, songwriter and leader of The Beach Boys. Set against the era defining catalog of Wilson’s music, the film intimately examines the personal voyage and ultimate salvation of the icon whose success came at extraordinary personal cost.
