Kyle MacLachlan Cast in Major Role for Season 2 of 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'

More big TV casting news today: Kyle MacLachlan, best known as the star of Twin Peaks, has been cast in a major role for the upcoming second season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. If you are not caught up on the show, please do not proceed, because this most likely will be a major spoiler…

…okay don’t say we didn’t warn you. Maclachlan will be playing the long lost, much debated about, father of Skye. Which if you remember the last scene of Season 1, Raina (Ruth Negga) addressed a dripping bloody goo-man in a tub and said ‘I found your daughter’, so its safe to assume this will be Maclachlan’s role as many sites, including EW, are reporting. No solid info is known about whether the role is recurring or a one time appearance.

It’s good to know that we’ll finally get some of the bigger chunks about Skye’s backstory fleshed out during Season 2, but that begs the question what exactly are Skye and her father since we know they are 0-8-4’s (Objects of Unknown Origin)? Fans have speculated they could be Kree or Inhumans, but I have no idea what the gooey guy at the end of Season 2 was supposed to be.

Hopefully answers will be fast and forthcoming when Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns for its second season on September 23rd, on ABC.
