Alexandre Aja, who directed one of my favorite horror films (High Tension), is teaming up with acclaimed writer Joe Hill for Horns, an adaptation of Hill’s novel about a young man named Ignatius whose girlfriend dies from mysterious circumstances, shortly before a pair of horns begins to grow out of his head. The film stars Daniel Radcliffe in the leading role, and the first teaser has appeared online. Check it out below.
As a teaser, this doesn’t really give much away, but it does an excellent job of establishing a dark, foreboding tone. It’s nice to see Radcliffe continue to distance himself from the Harry Potter films by accepting a wide variety of different roles, and this should give him an opportunity to try something new.
Horns has a presentation scheduled for Comic-Con next week, so hopefully we’ll see some additional footage and learn a bit more about the film. It will also mark Radcliffe’s first time at Comic-Con, which should generate plenty of buzz. Horns will hit US theaters on October 31.
