Furious 7 Trailer: I Don't Have Friends, I Have Family

Earlier this week, we got our first look at Furious 7 via the film’s debut poster, and we figured a trailer wouldn’t be too far behind. Today, Universal released the first Furious 7 trailer, and it looks every bit as ridiculous – and awesome – as you might expect. There’s a huge cast of characters, with Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, and Chris “Ludacris” Bridges all returning, and new additions that include Jason Statham, Kurt Russell, and UFC champ Ronda Rousey.

Yeah, that looks absolutely insane. Hopefully this installment doesn’t repeat the sins of the previous film by giving away all the major setpieces in the marketing materials. It would be nice to have a few surprises to look forward to in the theaters.

Also, we can’t ignore the elephant in the room, and that’s the tragic death of Paul Walker, which occurred while the film was on a break from production. As great as the Furious 7 trailer is, it’s almost eerie to see him in this footage, and it’ll be interesting to see how the filmmakers manage to remove him from the narrative in a way that makes sense and honors the actor’s memory.

Furious 7 will hit theaters on April 3, 2015.

Continuing the global exploits in the unstoppable franchise built on speed, Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson lead the returning cast of Furious 7. James Wan directs this chapter of the hugely successful series that also welcomes back favorites Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Elsa Pataky and Lucas Black. They are joined by international action stars new to the franchise including Jason Statham, Djimon Hounsou, Tony Jaa, Ronda Rousey, Nathalie Emmanuel and Kurt Russell. Neal H. Moritz, Vin Diesel and Michael Fottrell return to produce the film written by Chris Morgan.
