While speaking to The Playlist to promote the release of upcoming legal thriller Puncture, Chris Evans dropped a few details on the status of the inevitable sequel to this summer’s smash hit, Captain America. While confirming that he has signed on for three Captain America films, as well as an Avengers trilogy, it looks like we might be in for a long wait before we see Cap’s next solo outing.
“They may wait until 2014 until they release the next Cap. Marvel has a lot of balls in the air, they aren’t going to cannibalize their films.”
He also said that, unlike Samuel L. Jackson’s character, he will not be making cameos in other Marvel films.
“Out of those six films, if I pop up in one of those [other films], it counts as part of the deal. So if they needed me in a third Cap, and I say, ‘Fuck you, give me $30 million,’ well…they want to avoid that.”
Evans also lamented the plethora of leaked images from the film’s shooting locations.
“You always look so horrible in those pictures, I just stopped looking at them. There’s no way to look good in those photos. The first [costume]was a 1940s look, very utilitarian, something that would serve a purpose on the battlefield. But in The Avengers, Joss just had a certain vision in his mind about what he wanted Cap to look like. That’s what he wanted to see. It’s so nice working on these movies and the director’s a fan. He’s the dude at Comic-Con that we’re terrified of pissing off. If Joss is happy, I’m happy.”
The Avengers is currently in production with a scheduled release date of May 4, 2012.
