Summit Entertainment has released the third and final trailer for Divergent, which offers the best look yet at the world inspired by Veronica Roth’s novel. It also gives viewers unfamiliar with the source material a clear outline of the film’s conflict, something that wasn’t effectively communicated in previous marketing.
The trailer debuted last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live, before exploding across the internet this morning courtesy of Buzzfeed and MSN UK. Check it out via the embed below.
Summit is hoping to strike paydirt with another female-led YA adaptation, and rising star Shailene Woodley should be more than capable of carrying a major franchise. In fact, with the built-in fanbase (Roth’s trilogy of novels have collectively sold over 1o million copies worldwide) and plenty of positive pre-release buzz, Summit has already announced plans to move forward with the second installment of the trilogy, Insurgent, which will begin shooting later this spring for a March 2015 release.
Meanwhile, Divergent will hit theaters next month, on March 21.
