Disney's 'Maleficent' reveals two new posters.

We’re still a little more than two months way from Disney’s Maleficent, the Sleeping Beauty tie-in that tells the origins of the self-proclaimed Mistress of All Evil. A new trailer should be on the horizon, but in the meantime, the studio has released a pair of posters to hype the film, both featuring Angelina Jolie in full regalia. Here’s the domestic version:

Jolie is the perfect mix of beautiful and sinister in this shot, but it pales in comparison to the UK poster, which you can see below:

It’s curious to think that the same poster wouldn’t have been used for both territories. Perhaps Disney feels that pointing out the obvious connection to Sleeping Beauty wouldn’t be necessary for the domestic market, as Maleficent is such an iconic character in the pantheon of Disney villains.

Directed by Robert Stromberg and also starring Elle Fanning, Maleficent opens on May 30.

“Maleficent” explores the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the classic “Sleeping Beauty” and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turn her pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king’s newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Aurora is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realizes that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever.
