Viewers of a few fan-favorite shows can breathe sighs of relief today, as The CW has given early renewals to five of its series, including Nerd Rep favorites Supernatural and Arrow. Among the other shows picked up include their long-running and highest-rated show The Vampire Diaries and freshman shows The Originals and Reign.
CW president Mark Pedowitz said “I’m very pleased to announce early pickups for all five series, and let our fans know they’ll have more great drama to look forward to next season.” It’s quite remarkable that something like Supernatural is still going strong, hitting three-year highs this season, and will now match the 10-season total Smallville was on the air. Arrow, on the other hand, takes home the title of the networks “most watched” show with 3.9 million viewers.
The remaining veteran dramas Beauty and the Beast, The Carrie Diaries and Hart of Dixie are still on the chopping block, while freshman series The Tomorrow People, The 100 and Star-Crossed will remain also on the bubble until a bit closer to the CW upfronts in May, but it’s worth noting the latter two have yet to even premiere, as of this article.
