COMIC-CON 2014: Ben Affleck's 'Batman v Superman' Costume

Update July 26th @ 12:00pm: Sorry guys – looks like the photo below is a fake, a convincing PhotoShop job using this as a source. The photo was sent to us by a reader, and with none of our staff on the exhibit floor today, we made the mistake of running it without verifying its authenticity. Thanks to Batman News for pointing out the mistake.

Update July 26th @ 11:30am: After the debut of the Batman v Superman teaser trailer this morning, it looks like the full costume is now on display. This looks absolutely awesome.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of Batman, and DC’s booth at San Diego Comic Con is stuffed to the gills with Batman memorabilia, including a series of custom capes and cowls designed by various artists, screen-used props and costumes, an enormous Batman statue, and plenty more that you can see here. But the item garnering the most attention is the cape and cowl that Ben Affleck will be wearing in 2015’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and we snapped a couple of photos.

Unfortunately, the booth was far too crowded to get a full shot of the entire piece, but this should give you a good idea of what to expect when Affleck squares off against Henry Cavill. The shorter ears look great, and while I’m not quite sure how I feel about the scowl being permanently etched in, I’d by lying if I said I wasn’t pleased with the overall look and feel.

It’s a shame the full costume isn’t on display, as I’d really like to see how the black cape and cowl looks against the grey body suit. But if we’re lucky, Warner Bros. will be showing that off during their Hall H presentation on Saturday morning.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will open on May 6, 2016.
