Ben Affleck Spotted on Suicide Squad Set

We’ve been hearing for awhile that David Ayer’s Suicide Squad might feature a cameo from Ben Affleck as Batman, and today that rumor gained some credibility when photos of Affleck arriving at the Toronto airport surfaced on social media.

A few hours later, another round of photos appeared, this time purporting to show Affleck on the set of Suicide Squad, which is currently filming in Toronto. Check out the pics below.

In addition to these shots, Latino Review is reporting that the Batmobile has also been spotted in Toronto, so it certainly sounds like Affleck’s cameo is happening. And that’s not all: if Latino Review’s sources are correct, this cameo may result in a quid pro quo situation for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

WARNING: POTENTIAL SPOILERS

A rumor has been circulating for some time that Batman v Superman will feature a nod to the comic books, with a glass display case containing the costume formerly worn by Robin appearing in the Batcave. Comic book readers will remember that Jason Todd, the second Robin, was murdered by The Joker and memorialized with this display – and now it sounds like we might get to see that happen.

According to Latino Review, Jared Leto will have a brief cameo in Batman v Superman, during a flashback sequence that shows The Joker beating Robin to death – and this could potentially lead to his arrest and incarceration, which is where we find him as Suicide Squad begins.

Granted, this is still a rumor for now, but it would certainly make sense to use this bit of comic lore to continue building the onscreen DC universe, and it would immediately establish Leto’s Joker as a sadistic and ruthless madman. Obviously, Warner Bros. is keeping quiet on this one – but as soon as we hear more, we’ll let you know.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will hit theaters on March 25, 2016, with Suicide Squad coming later that year on August 5.
