Suicide Squad Takes Aim at Will Smith, Tom Hardy, Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie

Earlier this week, Warner Bros. revealed their entire slate of DC Comics films for the next several years, confirming many of the rumors that have been kicked around for the past few months, including a Suicide Squad film from director David Ayer. Speculation immediately kicked into overdrive as fans tried to determine which characters from the comic series would be featured in the film, and who would play those characters.

According to Latino Review, the big screen Suicide Squad lineup will consist of Deadshot, Harkness, Vixen, and Amanda Waller as the major roles, with Blockbuster, Multiplex, Jaculi, and Mindboggler also rumored to appear. The Hollywood Reporter is claiming that offers have gone out to Will Smith, Tom Hardy, Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie, which seems to confirm the news that Warner Bros. would be seeking some major talent for the action flick.

Deadline is also backing up a portion of the THR rumor, saying that Smith, Hardy and Robbie are all “circling the film” and very close to signing a deal, although it’s currently unknown which roles they’ve been offered. Robbie seems to be a near-perfect fit for Harley Quinn, who has been part of the Suicide Squad lineup in the past, but all signs point to the character being absent from the film. It will also be interesting to see Hardy appearing in another DC-related film, having already portrayed Bane in The Dark Knight Rises.

Suicide Squad is scheduled for release in August 2016. Production will start early next year.
