It’s hard to argue with the success of Sinister, with the 2012 horror film garnering critical acclaim along with its box office success. And with both of those elements in mind, it shouldn’t be terribly surprising that a sequel is on its way, with the first trailer for Sinister 2 making its way online.

Writers Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill are back for the sequel, although Derrickson’s commitment to Marvel’s Doctor Strange means he won’t be in the director’s chair – those honors will go to Ciaran Foy. The cast of Sinister 2 is led by Shannyn Sossamon, and twins Robert and Dartanian Sloan.
Sinister 2 will hit theaters on August 21.
