Colin Farrell Confirms Role in 'True Detective' Season 2

Speculation can cease for at least one of the names that have been bandied about for HBO’s True Detective Season 2 with the recent confirmation, straight from the actor himself, that Colin Farrell will indeed have a role. “I’m doing the second series. I’m so excited,” he revealed to SundayWorld.com, where he went on to say the following:

“I know it will be eight episodes and take around four or five months to shoot. I know very little about it, but we’re shooting in the environs of Los Angeles which is great. It means I get to stay at home and see the kids.”

Interesting to note that Farrell mentions the season will once again feature eight episodes. With this confirmation, now we wait for official word on the other casting rumors such as Vince Vaughan, Taylor Kitsch, Rachel McAdams, and Elisabeth Moss. What isn’t confirmed are what the details of Farrell’s role – or any of the other rumored casting choices, for that matter – will entail.

Is Farrell nervous about making the jump from film to television? Not for the reasons you might expect:

“There’s a level of anxiety and a level of tension that always makes itself apparent, whatever you’re doing. Ideally, you cut into that in short order as soon as you start telling the story and as soon as you turn it from a conceptual experience into something that’s practical and being given breath.”

True Detective Season 2 begins filming this fall in a contemporary setting within California for a probable summer 2015 release, and will see writer Nic Pizzolatto returning to pen the scripts, but director Cary Fukunaga will not return.
