A few weeks ago, we brought word that Steven Spielberg had begun development on a television version of hit film Minority Report. Details were scarce at the time, but recent news finds some of those pieces falling into place. We already know that Godzilla scribe Max Borenstein has been tapped to write the project, and THR is now reporting that Fox has ordered a pilot for the series, which will be a joint production between Paramount Television, Amblin Television and 20th Century Fox TV.
Even more interesting is the plot synopsis:
The Minority Report follow-up takes place 10 years after the end of Precrime in D.C., when one of the three Precogs struggles to lead a “normal” human life, but remains haunted by visions of the future. He meets a detective haunted by her past who just may help him find a purpose to his gift.
When this project was first announced, there seemed to be a lot of assumption that it would be a prequel, perhaps taking place in the early days of the PreCrime unit. But the idea of a sequel taking place a decade later is certainly intriguing, as is the decision to team a female cop up with a male Precog, rather than the male cop/female Precog combo we saw in the original film.
