No that’s not a typo, Terminator: Genisys is the official title of the new Terminator movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, reprising the most iconic role of his career. The announcement broke today via Arnold’s Instagram feed where he thanked the cast and crew from his movie chair emblazoned with the Genisys logo. See below for the actual photo:
The official logo in the article title came via the @Terminator twitter account and was confirmed by Paramount to be legit. Slash Film had the above image of the Instagram feed with the image caption below:
Hasta la vista, baby. I want to thank the cast and crew of @TerminatorGenisys for a fantastic shoot. It was challenging, it was fun, and it was rewarding. From our director to the producers, from the camera team to catering, from visual effects to hair and makeup – we couldn’t have done it without you. I can’t wait to see our finished project and I know we’ll remind the fans why they fell in love with the Terminator. On July 1, 2015, I’ll be back.
The title looks quite clunky, in my opinion, and the spelling looks akin to a tech start-up company that would be featured on HBO’s Silicon Valley. I’m sure it will tie into the story somehow, but I can’t imagine this is a title that will be well received by the public or fans considering the original rumored title Terminator: Genesis wasn’t all that beloved.
Alan Taylor’s film, which will be the fifth in the Terminator franchise, stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney, Jason Clarke, Matt Smith, Byung-Hun Lee, and JK Simmons.
Terminator: Genisys opens in theaters on July 1, 2015.
