Things are shaping up nicely for the cast of Marvel’s upcoming Netflix flagship series Daredevil. In addition to Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio as The Kingpin, Rosario Dawson has been added to the cast in an unnamed important female role.
Marvel describes her character below:
Rosario Dawson will play a dedicated young woman whose quest to heal the wounds of Hell’s Kitchen brings Matt Murdock unexpectedly crashing into her life, while her own journey forever alters the course of his battle against the injustices of this broken city.
Is she playing an established character or one created solely for the series? No particular character in the universe springs to mind from that description, but Marvel does like their secrets and the fact that her character isn’t named is a tad suspicious. Here’s what Jeph Loeb, the head of Marvel Television, had to say about the casting:
Rosario Dawson is one the most charismatic, talented and powerful actresses in Hollywood, so she was always at the top of our list for Marvel’s Daredevil. Her role in the series is absolutely critical to Matt Murdock’s journey to become the hero we know as Daredevil.
Marvel’s Daredevil will premiere its 13-episode first season in 2015, exclusively on Netflix.
