BBC America's Body-Swapper Drama 'Intruders' releases first trailer and premiere date.

BBC America has a breakout hit with its original series Orphan Black and appear poised to strike again with another intense twist-filled sci-fi drama with Intruders. The series centers on a secret society looking to remain immortal by seeking refuge in the bodies of others. The show also boasts the awesome John “The Master” Simm (Doctor Who) and Oscar® winner Mira Sorvino. BBC America has unleashed the first moody trailer below:

Looks pretty cool, huh? I’m definitely in to see if they can create a worthwhile mythology from this premise. Here’s the official word from BBC America on the premiere date:

BBC AMERICA’s new original drama series starring celebrated British actor John Simm and Oscar® winner Mira Sorvino.

From writer and executive producer Glen Morgan of The X-Files, BBC AMERICA’s new original series is about a secret society devoted to chasing immortality by seeking refuge in the bodies of others.

Intruders is based on Michael Marshall Smith’s novel The Intruders and is produced by BBC Worldwide Productions. John Simm (Life on Mars, State of Play, Doctor Who) plays Jack Whelan and is joined by Oscar® winning Mira Sorvino (Mighty Aphrodite, Norma Jean & Marilyn, Human Trafficking) playing his wife Amy. The cast also includes James Frain (The White Queen, Tron: Legacy) as Shepherd, Tory Kittles (True Detective) as Gary Fischer and introduces ten-year-old Millie Brown (Once Upon a Time in Wonderland) as Madison.

Under the direction of Eduardo Sanchez (Blair Witch Project, Exists) and Daniel Stamm (13 Sins, The Last Exorcism), the creative team includes acclaimed production designer Mark Freeborn (Breaking Bad). The series is executive produced by Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner for BBC Worldwide Productions, Glen Morgan and Rose Lam (The L Word).

Intruders premieres on August 23 only on BBC America.
