Last night, the 66th Annual Emmy Awards were presented during a live telecast from LA’s Nokia Theater. Breaking Bad cleaned up as expected, taking home the award for Best Drama Series, as well as Best Actor for Bryan Cranston, Best Supporting Actress for Anna Gunn, and Best Supporting Actor for Aaron Paul. Surprisingly, the critically acclaimed True Detective was nearly shut out, with only a single win for director Cary Joji Fukunaga, but it was nice to see FX’s Fargo get some recognition for Best Miniseries.
Modern Family received its fifth win for Best Comedy Series, while Big Bang Theory‘s Jim Parsons took home the statue for Best Actor and Julia Louis-Dreyfus nabbed a well-deserved win for her role in Veep. Both of Netflix’s heavy hitters, House of Cards and Orange is the New Black, also came up empty-handed this year.
