Teri Hatcher, former Lois Lane from the beloved 90’s series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, has joined the cast of The CW’s Supergirl for Season 2. The actress will have a multi-episode arc this season as a Big Bad for the back half of the show’s second season. The date of the episode of her first appearance has yet to be announced.
The head geek DC TV Universe guru Andrew Kreisberg weighed in on the casting:
“No offense to any of the wonderful actresses who have also played the part, but Teri Hatcher is my all time favorite Lois Lane. To have her come back to the SuperWorld in a completely different part is an unbelievable gift to me, Greg [Berlanti], and the fans.”
Hatcher will join a Supergirl cast that already contains her Desperate Housewives co-star Mehcad Brooks who portrays Jimmy Olsen on the DC show, but former Superman from Lois and Clark, Dean Cain, has also appeared numerous times as Fred Danvers, Kara/Supergirl’s adoptive father. No announcement on whether the two actors will be reunited in an episode, but that would pretty darn cool, wouldn’t it?
I have no clue who I would like Hatcher to play on the show, especially since we already have the female Luthors accounted for and Lynda Carter is playing the President of the US. The Krypton military storyline already ran it’s course in Season 1, but perhaps she could play Kryptonian badasses Ursa or Faora? She could easily play an older military version of either character. Or maybe even the matriarch of the Lane family, since we’ve already met Lucy, General Lane and heard name drops of Lois. What do you think?
