After becoming a bona fide sensation last year, Netflix quickly greenlit a second season of its 80s throwback sci-fi series, Stranger Things. And while we won’t be revisiting the sleepy town of Hawkins, Indiana until later this year, it’s never too early to start getting excited, and the streaming network unveiled the first look to one of the year’s biggest television audiences last night.

Speaking to Vanity Fair last month, executive producer Shawn Levy promised more of what we loved from the first season, but on a bigger scale:
“Season 2 is bigger and potentially darker in its stakes. The threat, which in Season 1 was to Will Byers, has grown. That’s all I’m going to say! But, I will say Season 2 has a bigger cast and is definitely loyal to the kind of magical storytelling that we established in the first season. It’s character-based and still about our core group of characters.”
And that core group of characters will all return, including Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Sheriff Jim Hopper (David Harbour).
Stranger Things 2 will premiere in October, exclusively on Netflix.
A year after Will’s return, everything seems back to normal… but a darkness lurks just beneath the surface, threatening all of Hawkins.
