Chances are, we won’t be seeing any more footage from Star Wars: The Force Awakens before the film arrives in theaters next month, but that doesn’t mean the marketing push is over. On the contrary, five new character posters have just been released, depicting some of the major players in the sequel.
Finn (John Boyega), Rey (Daisy Ridley), Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) are each featured with their own close-up poster. Check out the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens posters below.
With these five characters being such a huge part of the marketing, it stands to reason they’ll be the primary focus of The Force Awakens – but it’s also possible that this is only the first wave of character-centric posters, and we could see more of these before the film opens. It would be nice to see Captain Phasma or Poe Dameron get their own slice of the promotional pie.
Also, this new look at Leia seems to give the impression that she’s in some kind of command role – while each of the other characters are shown with their weapons, Leia seems to be in some kind of control room. Very interesting…
Directed by J.J. Abrams and also featuring returning cast members Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker, as well as newcomers Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Crystal Clarke, Pip Andersen, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow, Star Wars: The Force Awakens will open on December 18.
