Last year, Spider-Man joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a scene-stealing appearance in Captain America: Civil War, marking the first entry into a partnership between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, who have owned the rights to the character for decades. Now the studios are joining forces again for a new standalone adventure, this summer’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.
We’ve already seen one trailer for the film, but with a July release date looming on the horizon, the marketing campaign is starting to pick up some steam. With that in mind, Sony has dropped the latest look at Spider-Man: Homecoming, which features a ton of spectacular (yes, I said it) action.
Tom Holland continues to be pitch-perfect in his role as Peter Parker, and it looks like his relationship with Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) may not be as chummy as the first trailer led us to believe. And Michael Keaton seems to be relishing his return to the world of comic book movies with a role as the sinister Vulture, one of the most iconic characters from the Spider-Man mythology.
Directed by Jon Watts and featuring a supporting cast that also includes Marisa Tomei, Zendaya, Bokeem Woodbine, Angourie Rice and Donald Glover, Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters on July 7, 2017.
