While promoting his upcoming comedy The Change-Up with Jason Bateman, Ryan Reynolds spoke to MTV and gave a few brief updates on his upcoming projects. “RIPD I’m doing next and then hopefully Deadpool,” Reynolds said. “It’s in development still.” Reynolds had previously stated that he would most likely wind up doing one film or the other, but that starring in both was unlikely.  When asked if the situation was still an “either or” scenario, Reynolds replied, “No, not at all, far from it.” The Deadpool film has been languishing for some time, despite Reynolds’ enthusiasm for the project.  The most…

Most of today’s posts have been very trailer-centric, and this one is no different.  Columbia Pictures gives us another look at Moneyball, due out on September 23rd, 2012. Based on Michael Lewis’ nonfiction bestseller Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game, the book’s subject is Oakland A’s general manager Billy Beane (Brad Pitt), who assembled a contending baseball club on a shoestring budget by employing a sophisticated computer-based analysis to draft players. With the exception of Major League and Field of Dreams, I’ve never been interested in movies about baseball.  But judging by this trailer, it seems like…

I’m a big fan of Emile Hirsch.  The Girl Next Door is one of my favorite teen sex comedies, and he showed off tremendous acting chops with turns in Into the Wild and Milk.  Now he’s set to tackle an alien invasion in The Darkest Hour. Directed by Chris Gorak and produced by Timur Bekmambetov, the film generated a lot of buzz at San Diego Comic Con 2011 for it’s striking visuals.  See for yourself:   From a visual standpoint, I’m impressed.  The idea of aliens that don’t really have a tangible, physical form is something we haven’t really seen…

The more footage I see of In Time, the more intrigued I am by the project.  The sci-fi thriller stars Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, and Cillian Murphy.  Here’s a brief synopsis: When Will Salas is falsely accused of murder, he must figure out a way to bring down a system where time is money – literally – enabling the wealthy to live forever while the poor, like Will, have to beg, borrow, and steal enough minutes to make it through another day. The film is written and directed by Andrew Niccol, and the subject matter certainly seems to echo his…

Let’s not be too surprised that Jason Statham has another action flick on the way.  He’ll be starring alongside Robert De Niro and Clive Owen in Killer Elite, scheduled to hit theatres on September 23rd, 2012. Here’s the rundown: An ex-special ops agent (Statham) is lured out of retirement to rescue his mentor (De Niro). To make the rescue, he must complete a near-impossible mission of killing three tough-as-nails assassins with a cunning leader (Owen).

Thanks to EW, we now know who will be giving orders to Clark Kent and Lois Lane in 2013’s Man of Steel. Veteran actor Laurence Fishburne has just been accepted the role of Perry White, a “hard-charging, old fashioned newspaperman” who holds the position of editor-in-chief at The Daily Planet.  Fishburne lends even more weight to an impressive cast that includes Henry Cavill, Russell Crowe, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, and Diane Lane. Man of Steel begins production this fall, and is scheduled for release on June 13th, 2013.

According to Variety, Ben Foster has just inked a deal to take a major role in the biopic Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father.  The film will focus on the relationship between John Gotti, Sr. (John Travolta) and his son, who Foster will portray.  The real-life John Gotti, Jr. is acting as consultant on the film, with Barry Levinson directing.  Foster released the following statement shortly after coming on board the project: Barry Levinson was the first director who took a chance on me, and I have a career because of him. This is a film about family, fathers…

Zack Snyder won’t be wasting any time resting on his laurels after he finishes his Superman reboot, Man of Steel – Twitch says he’s already lining up his next project, preparing to shoot Afghanistan war thriller The Last Photograph with Christian Bale and Sean Penn. Snyder was already attached to the project as co-writer and producer, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo helmer Niels Arden Oplev was slated to direct.  No word on why he’s no longer involved, but it looks like Snyder will be taking the director’s chair on this one.  Deadline reports that Bale would portray “a…
