George Clooney’s The Ides of March, a political thriller that he co-wrote as well as directed, is on its way this fall. The ensemble cast features Ryan Gosling as an influential young press secretary, and also includes Paul Giamatti, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Evan Rachel Wood, and Marisa Tomei, as well as Clooney himself.  Here’s a brief synopsis of the film, followed by the trailer. According to a press release from Disney, filming is officially underway on Sam Raimi’s Oz the Great and Powerful.  Cameras began rolling on Monday, July 25th, and the entire production is scheduled to take place on the 200,000 square-foot soundstage at the newly-opened Raleigh Studios in Pontiac, Michigan. Neil Burger is certainly enjoying the success of Limitless, having recently signed on to direct Sony’s Uncharted adaptation in the wake of David O. Russell’s departure.  Now Variety reports that Burger is in talks to direct another adaptation, this time for the non-fiction title Go Down Together: The True, Untold Story of Bonnie and Clyde by Jeff Guinn.  The cook chronicles Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker’s infamous crime spree through the Depression-era South, leaving a trail of bodies and empty bank vaults in their wake. Konami has released a new batch of screens for their forthcoming entries in the Silent Hill series. This first shot is from the Silent Hill HD Collection, which revisits the second and third entries with new HD graphics.  The gallery below contains several new shots from Silent Hill Downpour, an original entry into the beloved horror franchise.  Both titles are scheduled for release this fall on PS3 and Xbox 360.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Harrison Ford has attached himself to another western-themed role, this time as an aging Wyatt Earp in the adaptation of Black Hats, based on the novel by Max Allan Collins (writing under the pseudonym Patrick Culhane). Attendees of San Diego Comic-Con 2011 who managed to fight through the crowds to the Marvel booth were treated to exclusive character posters for The Avengers, the highly-anticipated Marvel team-up film directed by Joss Whedon and scheduled for release next summer. These posters provide the first look at the modernized version of Captain America’s costume, as well as a completely badass shot of Hawkeye as portrayed by Jeremy Renner. Combining the individual character posters results in this gorgeous banner (which I regret to say is currently NOT hanging on my wall):
