The buzz surrounding The Amazing Spider-Man 2 warped into overdrive last weekend when a fan snapped a photo of a three-piece poster that revealed our first glimpse of Rhino and what appeared to be a new incarnation of Green Goblin. The photo was blurry and taken at an odd angle, so it was difficult to make out many details, but today the official Spider-Man Twitter account released a hi-res version of the posters (click below to see the images full-size).
In the comics, as well as the previous film trilogy, Norman Osborn was the first person to become the Green Goblin. But that definitely looks like Dane DeHaan aboard the Goblin’s signature glider, and we know that DeHaan is portraying Norman Osborn’s son Harry in the film. Will the film forego the traditional Green Goblin narrative and skip straight to Harry taking up the mantle?
Perhaps we’ll find out more when the trailer drops on Thursday. In the meantime, enjoy these new photos from the film, courtesy of USA Today. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens on May 2, 2014.
We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.
It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.
