Netflix Renews ‘Stranger Things’ for Season 2, Premieres 2017

Not that anybody was really worried, but Netflix has officially announced a return to the Upside Down for Stranger Things Season 2. The 80’s throwback series will return with 9 new episodes in 2017.

The announcement was made via Netflix’s YouTube page with this simple, but effective video paying tribute to the films of 1984. Check it out:

Netflix also confirmed that Stranger Things creators and showrunners Matt and Ross Duffer will be returning for the second season, but unfortunately no info was released about returning cast members. Netflix is obviously trying to keep people guessing after the Season 1 cliffhanger featuring Eleven and Will.

Variety is also reporting that work on Stranger Things Season 2 may be farther along than Netflix has let on:

“Insiders tell Variety that work on the second season has already been underway for quite some time.”

If you haven’t dug into the series yet, Stranger Things is a “kids with bikes” retro horror/adventure about a telekinetic girl, a missing boy, a monster, a government conspiracy and more in the small town of Hawkins, Indiana. Think the best parts of 80’s Spielberg and Stephen King and you’ll have an idea of what to expect.

We were one of the first outlets online to tell you how great the series turned out, and will be right on the front lines with all your Stranger Things Season 2 info as it rolls out leading up to next year’s premiere. Stay tuned!
