Thor: The Dark World opened in theaters just over two months ago, and while the film hasn’t yet made its way to home video, that hasn’t stopped Marvel from greenlighting a third installment. The studio announced today that comic book writer Craig Kyle would pen the script for a third Thor film along with longtime collaborator Christopher Yost.
Yost co-wrote the screenplay for Thor: The Dark World, and Kyle served as executive producer, so neither of them are strangers to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A release date for the film hasn’t been confirmed, nor is there any information on plot details, so unfortunately there isn’t much else to report. For now, here’s a statement from Marvel Studio head Kevin Feige:
“I am proud of Craig and have enjoyed working with him over these past years. His creative instincts have helped shape ‘Thor’ and ‘Thor: The Dark World’ at every level of the filmmaking process. The entire team at Marvel is very happy to continue collaborating with Craig as he continues as a screenwriter working with Christopher on the forthcoming chapter of Thor’s adventure.”
