The partnership between Marvel and Netflix has resulted in some excellent television, with two stellar seasons of Daredevil and a great introduction to Jessica Jones. Up next is Harlem’s favorite son, Luke Cage, and after a solid teaser trailer that was revealed at Comic-Con, we now have the first full-length trailer.
Mike Colter reprises his role as Luke Cage after playing a pivotal role in the first season of Jessica Jones, and he’ll be crossing paths with Misty Knight (Simone Missick), Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes (Mahershala Ali), Shades Alvarez (Theo Rossi), and Mariah Dillard (Alfre Woodard). And keep an eye out for Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson), who seems destined to be Netflix’s version of Nick Fury, wandering in and out of each new entry into the universe.
Here’s the first full-length trailer for Luke Cage.
Colter looks every bit as badass as you might expect, but I’m even more intrigued by the villains in this series. Mahershala Ali looks to be having a great time here, and I’m glad to see Theo Rossi getting some more work after Sons of Anarchy – he’s a comic book fan, so I’m sure he feels great about being part of the Marvel Universe.
The first season of Luke Cage will premiere on September 30, exclusively on Netflix.
After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) becomes a fugitive who attempts to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But soon he is pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city – forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.
