‘Justice League’ Trailer: We Have to Find Them

0

After much anticipation and a week of build-up featuring character posters and trailer teases, the first full Justice League trailer has finally hit. It has a decidedly more fun tone than anything we saw for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and plenty of Zack Snyder’s trademark visuals.

Unite the League in the first Justice League trailer below:

There’s a lot to like in this trailer and Jason Momoa’s Aquaman looks poised to steal the show. A lot has been made about this “grumpy” Aquaman on the internet based on all the moody photos of the character, but he’s having a ton of fun when seen in actual action. He has the swagger of a cocky metal band rock star and his James Hetfield-esque “Yeah!” in the final shot is hilarious.

As for the rest of the League, Cyborg’s CG looks iffy in almost every shot and is overshadowed by the rest of the team. Not much new here from Ezra Miller’s The Flash, but he still looks like a great big screen version of the character and the same goes for Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.

Batfleck looks to be killing it as The Dark Knight with some solid one-liners and some very cool shots of Batman doing what he does best. We also get our first looks at J.K. Simmons perfectly embodying Commissioner Gordon, Mera swimming in the ocean, and Barry Allen speaking to his dad is prison played by Billy Crudup.

Postives aside, the trailer really lacks a “wow” moment and Cyborg isn’t the only CG that looks spotty in a few places. Personally, I love the cover of the Beatles “Come Together” for this trailer but I’m sure that’ll bother some people as well.

Strangely enough, still no sign of Henry Cavill’s Superman even though we know he will play in the part in the film. Are Snyder and Warner Bros really trying to sell mainstream audiences on the idea that Supes died in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice or are they saving the reveal for the next trailer? Hopefully when trailer 2 is released we’ll get a better sense of story and the threat from Steppenwolf along with the return of Man of Steel himself.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League hits theaters November of 2017
